Spring Turkey Season

When: March 20-May 5 on private lands; April 2-May 5 (youth hunting day March 31) on Wildlife Management Areas.

Limits: Statewide limit of three gobbles, no more than two per day. Bearded hens are not legal.

Charleston In-Water Boat Show

What: Unlike the January Boat Show, this spring event features power and sailing vessels in their natural element, the water. Because most of the boats are in the water the show also features larger vessels. More than two dozen dealers participate in the event and plenty of activities for youngsters are included.

Charleston Outdoor Fest

What: Originally begun as East Coast Kayak Festival, activities such as mountain biking, archery, challenge zone, climbing wall, slacklining and disc golf have been added to the watersports activities such as kayaking, canoeing and stand up paddleboarding that anchor this festival. Also, instructional seminars and a vendor village are featured.

Charleston Inshore Anglers Sheepshead Tournament

What: The Charleston Inshore Anglers club hosts this annual tournament with a $1,000 first-place prize, plus kids' category.

Where: Captains' meeting 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 26 at Smokey Oak Taproom, 1234 Camp Road James Island; Tournament 6 a.m.-5 p.m. April 28, weigh-in 4-5 p.m. at Smokey Oak.
