A woman was burned during an early morning home fire in a remote area southwest of Ridgeville.

About 3:50 a.m., firefighters were called to 398 Four Holes Road, a dirt-surfaced roadway south of Wire Road.

The blaze destroyed the home and injured one of its occupants, firefighters said.

The resident was treated at the scene, then taken by helicopter to a burn center in Augusta, Ga., according to Doug Warren, director of Dorchester County Emergency Medical Services.

What caused the blaze and whether the woman’s burns were life-threatening were not immediately known this morning.
