SPARTANBURG — Spartanburg County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a report by a woman who says she was assaulted after she was pulled over by a man with a blue light in his sports utility vehicle.

Master Deputy Craig Bradley says the woman was attacked shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Bradley says the woman had crawled out of a ditch and was spotted by a passing motorist. She was taken to a hospital for treatment. There was no word on her injuries.

Bradley says the man was driving a mid-sized SUV with a blue light inside the vehicle.

Bradley says people being pulled over by an unmarked car should call 911 to verify that it’s a police officer. Those without cell phones should stop in well-lighted areas with other people around.
