A Johns Island woman died Sunday after authorities say she jumped from the Stono Bridge.
Cynthia Springs, 49, died from drowning, Charleston County Chief Deputy Coroner Judy Koelpin said.
Charleston police responded to the Stono Marina about 7:30 a.m. Sunday and found Springs floating beneath the bridge. Springs had parked her pickup truck on the top of the bridge and jumped off, according to an incident report.
Authorities used a man's boat to take the victim to shore. She was pronounced dead at the hospital an hour later.
The death has been ruled a suicide, according to the report.
