Forecasters anticipate light rainfall today with temperatures climbing to 70 degrees in Charleston.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered showers are possible after 8 a.m., and the afternoon should see a chance of thunderstorms as well.

Rainfall from the showers is not expected to be significant.

A greater chance for storminess will come Wednesday, before a cold front drops over the Lowcountry.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 64. North wind between 5 and 7 mph.

Tuesday Night: A slight chance of showers after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. Southeast wind between 5 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday: A chance of showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 10am. Cloudy, with a high near 65. Breezy, with a south wind 9 to 12 mph increasing to between 17 and 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday Night: A chance of showers before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 65.
