Update: Classes at Stall HS cancelled Wednesday after Tuesday gas leak

After evacuating R.B. Stall High School into Tuesday afternoon's chill, students and staff head back into a portion of the North Charleston school not affected by a gas leak.

Classes at Stall High School in North Charleston are cancelled Wednesday after a gas leak was reported Tuesday morning, Charleston County School District officials said.

The leak above was reported before 11:30 a.m., prompting students and staff to leave the building at 3625 Ashley Phosphate Road.

Firefighters were attempting to shut off a main line into the school in order to stop the leak, but as of 5 p.m. Tuesday, the leak remained.

Because there will be no heat at the school, there will be no classes, a district spokesman said.

There were no reports of fires or explosions in connection with the incident. It's not known what caused the leak.
