Two charged in McDonald's holdup

Two men have been arrested in connection with the Saturday morning robbery of a McDonald's in Mount Pleasant, police announced today.

Timothy D. Taylor, 20, of Old Collins Creek Road in McClellanville is charged with armed robbery.

Joseph B. Whiteside Jr., 27, of Highway 17 North in Awendaw is charged him with armed robbery and attempted murder. He was taken into custody with the assistance of the Charleston County Sheriff's Department SWAT team.

Police are still seeking a third suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call the Mount Pleasant police department at 884-4176.

Two men armed with a pistol entered the McDonald's on Highway 17 North early Saturday morning, demanded money and shot the manager twice, while a third one stayed outside in a later model, two-tone Crown Victoria, according to police. The manager's injuries were not considered life-threatening.
