Charleston Police have charged two North Charleston men with an armed robbery/burglary that occurred Nov. 10 at a Rutledge Avenue apartment.

Other suspects remain to be apprehended, Charleston police public information officer Charles E. Francis said Monday.

He said William Lee Smalls, 24, of Purdue Drive, and Aldean Cordell Wright, 20, of April Pine Circle are both charged with armed robbery and first-degree burglary. Wright is also charged with possession of a firearm/knife during the commission of a violent crime and simple possession of marijuana.

Several victims of the robbery told police the incident began about 9:40 p.m., when the suspects approached the Rutledge Avenue apartment and began talking with one of the victims. Two of the victims then walked with the suspects to the front door of the apartment, and then about four armed suspects entered the residence and forced everyone, including the two men later identified as suspects, to the floor.

During the robbery, those two men got up from the floor and joined the other suspects in robbing the victims.

The investigation is ongoing, Francis said.
