Truck strikes school bus, no one hurt

Students inspect the damage to a Charleston County School bus Thursday morning while walking to another bus that would take them to school.

No one was hurt after a tractor-trailer struck a Charleston County School bus today on James Island.

The school bus had nine elementary and middle school children on board at the time of the 7:20 a.m. wreck with the truck at the intersection of Folly and Harbor View Roads. The bus had noticeable damage to its rear, right wheel well.

Bus driver Eydie Duffy said she was a little shaken after her first wreck since 1983 but that all of the children, students at C.E. Williams Middle School and St. Andrews Elementary, were unharmed.

"The kids don't want to go to school but they're fine," she said.

Authorities moved both the bus and the truck into a parking lot so as not to delay traffic. The children boarded another bus about 30 minutes after the wreck.
