South Carolina Wahoo Series
The captain's meeting for the 2018 South Carolina Wahoo Series (scwahooseries.com) will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 13 at Skullcreek Dockside restaurant on Hilton Head Island. Boats can fish two days between Feb. 2 and April 15 and weigh their heaviest wahoo at one of the three official weigh stations — Toler's Cove in Mount Pleasant, Hilton Head Harbor or Georgetown Landings. Fly Fishing Classes
The Charleston Angler will hold fly fishing classes from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Jan. 13 (West Ashley) and Jan. 27 (Mount Pleasant). The cost is $85, which includes use of equipment and lunch, and class size is limited to 10. Casting, knots, flies and how-to basics are covered. Shallow Water Fishing Expo
Haddrell's Point Tackle's annual Shallow Water Fishing Expo will be held Jan. 20-21 at Omar Shrine Temple, located at 176 Patriots Point Rd., Mount Pleasant. The event will feature D.O.A. Lures founder Mark Nichols and Flats Class host C.A. Richardson, along with local guides and pro staffers with new products and seminars for inshore, offshore and flycasting enthusiasts. Show hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on Jan. 20 and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Jan. 21. General admission is $5 and children 12 and under are admitted free. Saltwater Sportsman Seminar
The Saltwater Sportsman National Seminar Series, led by George Poveromo and Alberto Knie, will visit Myrtle Beach Jan. 20 at the Conference Center at Barefoot Resort. In addition to Poveromo, host of George Poveromo's World of Saltwater Fishing on the NBC Sports Network, and Knie, the cast of instructors also will include Charleston redfish pro Capt. Jamie Hough; Capt. Danny Carey of Myrtle Beach; Capt. J Baisch of Murrells Inlet; Capt. Jim Clark of Hilton Head; Capt. Buch Foster of Southport, N.C.; Capt. David Wicker of Wilmington, N.C.; Capt.
