The Woodlands Inn is coming under local ownership.
The upscale Summerville resort is being sold to John P. "Johnny" Linton and his family, it was announced today.
Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
The current owner, Virginia-based Salamander Hospitality LLC, will continue to manage the Parsons Road property.
Woodlands is one of only six properties in the United States to hold both the AAA Five-Diamond and Forbes Five-Star ratings in the lodging and dining categories.
Linton is a Summerville resident and an attorney who is special counsel to the law firm of Duffy & Young in Charleston. Among his other civic activities, he has been closely involved in Pinewood Preparatory School in Summerville.
The seller of the 18-room inn is a company owned by billionaire Sheila C. Johnson, co-founder of Black Entertainment Television. Her Salamander Hospitality bought Woodlands in 2006.
