Science Applications International Corp., a big player in the Charleston region's defense contracting industry, releases quarterly financial results. Other companies reporting earnings include: Harris Teeter parent Kroger Co., Dollar General, Big Lots, Broadcom, Ulta Beauty, Michaels Cos., Tiffany & Co., Hovanian Enterprises, Ingles Markets, J. Jill and Signet Jewelers.

Home loan financer Freddie Mac releases its survey of weekly mortgage rates. Last week, they rebounded slightly after sinking to their lowest levels in six weeks. The 30-year fixed-rate average ticked up to 3.68% from  3.66%. The 15-year fixed-rate average was unchanged at 3.15%.
