COLUMBIA — Two men wanted in the shooting death of a New York City high school basketball star have been arrested in South Carolina.

Deputy U.S. Marshal Rick Long told The New York Times that 20-year-old Robert Cartagena and 21-year-old Tyshawn Brockington were found in a closet in an apartment complex Wednesday.

U.S. Marshal’s spokeswoman Amanda Lyons confirmed Thursday that Cartagena and Brockington had been arrested and more details would be released Thursday.

The men were being held on fugitive charges and Long said they are awaiting extradition.

Eighteen-year-old Tayshana Murphy was killed early Sunday. Murphy was a senior at Murry Bergtraum High School for Business Careers and was considered one of the top basketball players in the city.

Police arrested 24-year-old Terique Collins on Monday on a weapons charge.
