A man police were seeking on narcotic and weapons violation charges surrendered Friday to Charleston police.
Darius Malloy, 21, of 36-B South Street is charged with trafficking cocaine and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, police spokesman Charles Francis said.
He said Malloy, who is on state probation for possession of cocaine base and was out on bond for third-offense possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine base and possession of cocaine base with the intent to distribute, is being held in the Cannon Detention Center.
Warrants for Malloy were obtained by the police Special Investigations Unit, which searched his apartment on Wednesday. Officers confiscated about 55 grams of cocaine, about 34 grams of cocaine base, $400 cash, a bullet proof vest and two handguns -- one of which was reported stolen out of Mount Pleasant, Francis said.
