Mike Mooneyham of The Post and Courier will be inducted into the 2015 class of the Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Legends Hall of Heroes on July 31 in Charlotte.
Mooneyham began covering professional wrestling in the mid-’60s, and was a correspondent and writer for a number of national wrestling magazines and sports publications. His weekly pro wrestling column in The Post and Courier has been in continuous publication longer than any other in the country. He co-authored the New York Times best-seller “Sex, Lies and Headlocks” in 2002 and most recently “Mid-Atlantic Wrestling Memories.”
Mooneyham is a member of the S.C. Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame and the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in Waterloo, Iowa. He was named winner of the James C. Melby Award, the industry’s top writing award, in 2009.
The Hall of Heroes awards ceremony will be held at Hilton University Place hotel in Charlotte. Also being inducted are five-time former NWA world tag-team champions Ricky Steamboat and the late Jay Youngblood, along with the late promoter Jim Crockett Sr., who built a wrestling empire and laid the foundation for what would become known as Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling.
