MOBILE, ALA. – The College of Charleston baseball team will open its 2012 season at 7:30 p.m. today at the University of South Alabama. The Cougars also will face South Alabama at 3 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Senior Josh Renfro is the scheduled starter for Charleston. Renfro had a 3.66 ERA last year and a 9-3 record in 15 starts. Juniors Christian Powell and Matt Pegler are the scheduled starters for the Saturday and Sunday games.

Charleston, which finished 39-22 last season, is the preseason coaches pick to win the Southern Conference.

The Cougars’ home opener will be at 5 p.m. Feb. 24 against Rhode Island at Patriots Point. Charleston will play Connecticut on Feb. 25 and Xavier on Feb. 26.
