NEWBERRY--Former Berkeley High School standout Brittany Young scored 25 points and had six assists to lead the Charleston Lowcountry Fire over the Newberry Panthers, 71-54, in women's professional basketball Saturday.
Shanna Chapman added 13 points and seven rebounds for Charleston, and former James Island High School product Jontell Johnson added 12 points and five rebounds.
The Fire (8-0) plays at USA Elite in Greensboro, N.C., on July 16.
Wide receiver Jody Fuller of Monroe, N.C., announced a commitment to South Carolina on Friday night.
Fuller (6-0, 202) made the announcement on ESPNU while attending a camp in Oregon. USC, behind the recruiting of Jay Graham, had been in a leadership position for Fuller since the early spring. Fuller also looked hard at Miami, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.
"They were the first school to offer me," Fuller said of South Carolina. "They showed me so much love."
Last season, Fuller caught 77 passes for 845 yards and 16 touchdowns. He's the 12th commitment for the Gamecocks and the second receiver to commit this week.
--Clemson junior center Dalton Freeman and junior center T.J. Johnson and senior guard Rokevious Watkins of South Carolina were named to the Outland Trophy watch list. The award, presented on Dec. 8, goes to college football's top interior lineman.
