Raw lead play-by-play man Michael Cole worked as a news broadcaster for CBS radio before joining WWE in 1997.

Cole, who started out in WWE as a backstage interviewer, covered three U.S. presidential elections, the 51-day standoff at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, in 1993, and spent nine months in war-torn Bosnia in 1994.
