Tiger Woods slipped onto Kiawah Island this morning for a quick practice round at the Ocean Course, preparing for next week’s PGA Championship.

Woods, the world’s No. 2-ranked player teed off early this morning, course officials confirmed. He’s won the PGA Championship four times, most recently in 2007.

Woods is the latest golf star to squeeze in some practice at the Ocean Course before the PGA, which begins Aug. 9. Adam Scott, runner-up in last month’s British Open, has been on the course this week. Graeme McDowell, the 2010 U.S. Open champ, also reportedly has been on the Ocean Course this week.

Webb Simpson, this year’s U.S. Open champion, was at the Ocean Course last week. “It was sweet,” he said on his Twitter account. “Very tough.”

Woods and Scott are entered in the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone tournament this week in Akron, Ohio. Woods has won that tournament seven times, and Scott won it last year.

Simpson, whose wife gave birth to a daughter last weekend, is entered in the 156-player field for the PGA Championship.
