The Women’s Carolinas Golf Association Championship will be played May 15-17 at Yeamans Hall Club. The field consists of 96 players from North and South Carolina.
Courtney Gunter of Matthews, N.C., won last year’s event played at the Peninsula Club on Lake Norman. Gunter finished the 54-hole tournament at 5-under-par 211, two shots in front of Caroline Ellington of New Bern, N.C.
Katie Rose Higgins of Charleston tied for fifth overall.
Lea Anne Brown of Mount Pleasant beat Peg Brady of Stanley, N.C., on the second hole of sudden death to win the senior title.
Entries are now being accepted for the 62nd annual Charleston Men’s Amateur Golf Championship, which will be held May 18-20 at Municipal Golf Course.
The tournament is open to male golfers from Charleston, Berkeley or Dorchester counties who are at least 18 as of May 18. The field is limited to 192 players, and the entry fee is $150 for the 54-hole event.
Tom Bullock won the 2011 title by three shots over Tadd Brown.
