Asher Wojciechowski struck out 13 and gave up only two hits in a masterful complete game as The Citadel ran past UNC Greensboro, 8-2, in Southern Conference baseball Friday at Riley Park.

The Bulldogs (32-20, 19-6 SoCon) stole a season-high eight bases in the victory, maintaining their slim lead over College of Charleston atop the league standings.

Wojciechowski allowed just one walk and two runs in nine innings to improve to 9-2.

"Asher was very dominant this afternoon," said Bulldogs coach Fred Jordan. "That's about as good as he has looked all year long. We have to be aggressive when we have four or five guys that can run and we played very relaxed overall in the game. There's no doubt that winning on Friday night is very important, and it was good to see us get back to that this week."

The eight stolen bases were the most since the Bulldogs stole nine against Charleston Southern on May 7, 2003.

Kyle Jordan was 3 for 4 with a walk, three RBIs and two stolen bases for The Citadel, while Nick Orvin was 3 for 4 with two steals, Bryan Altman was 2 for 4 with three runs scored and a stolen base and Justin Mackert scored three times and stole two bases.

The Bulldogs scored four runs in the first, highlighted by a two-run single by David Greene. Jordan had an RBI single in a two-run third inning to make it 6-0.

UNC Greensboro (20-28, 7-18) mustered a solo homer by Corey Overholtzer in the fourth inning and an RBI single by Chris Barker in the ninth.

The two teams continue their series today at 2 p.m.
