ROCK HILL -- Cam Walters picked up his second walk-off hit of the season on a one-out single in the bottom of the 10th inning as Winthrop (19-20, 9-7) earned a 3-2 victory over Charleston Southern (20-22, 7-9) in the opener of a Big South Conference baseball series Friday night.

Stew Brase (3-6) took the loss, throwing 9 2/3 innings and giving up three runs on four hits, four walks and two strikeouts. Brantley Meier, Tom Burkett and Alex Tomasovich each had two hits for CSU. Jaren Sustar added a hit and an RBI for the Bucs.

It was Winthrop's fourth walk-off win this season, three of them coming in league games.

CSU led 1-0 before the Eagles pushed ahead with two runs in the second inning.

Mitchell Knox pitched a career-high five innings of relief and earned the win, allowing no runs on five hits, one walk and three strikeouts.

Just one of the three runs allowed by Brase was earned.

The Bucs and Eagles will wrap up their three-game series today with a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. at The Winthrop Ballpark.
