MOUNT PLEASANT —Wando remained in the hunt for a Region 7-AAAA boys basketball title with a convin-cing 74-44 victory over James Island on Friday night.

The Warriors are 20-2, including 5-2 in the region.

The Warriors are at Summerville in a non-conference game Tuesday and travel to Goose Creek for a major showdown on Friday. James Island fell to 15-7, 2-4 Wando, which has lost two games by a combined four points, jumped to a 22-9 lead at the end of the first quarter and pushed the lead to 40-20 at halftime to deal the Trojans’ playoff hopes a big blow.

Jon Swinton led the Warriors with 20 points, while C.J. Bray led James Island with 19.
