Wando falls to Panthers

Carolina Forest starter Chris Orlando pitched a five-hitter to end Wando's season Monday.

CONWAY -- Josh Fryar belted a two-run homer and Chris Orlando pitched a complete-game five-hitter that lifted Carolina Forest to a 3-1 win over Wando in the Class AAAA Lower State playoffs Monday night at Carolina Forest Field.

The Panthers improved to 16-13, while Wando ended its season with an 18-13 record.

Jared Schulte's solo homer in the third inning gave Wando a 1-0 lead.

Fryar's two-run homer to right center in the fourth inning gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead. Robert Gray added an RBI single in the fifth for the final margin.

Orlando walked three and struck out seven, including Wando's final three outs of the game.

The Warriors' Jake McBreairty (5-4) suffered the loss. He gave up five hits and two earned runs in four innings while striking out five.
