COLUMBIA — South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley was named Female Coach of the Year by Black Coaches and Administrators, the organization announced Tuesday.

Staley led the Gamecocks to their most successful season since 2001-02 as the team finished with a 25-10 overall record, including a 10-6 mark in the SEC, and earned a spot in the NCAA tournament, where they reached the Sweet 16.

South Carolina ranked No. 21 in the final ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll was No. 25 in the last AP Top 25.
