COLUMBIA -- Jackie Bradley Jr. and Whit Merrifield each tallied their first multi-homer games of their careers and No. 6 South Carolina set a Carolina Stadium record with seven home runs on the way to a 14-6 win over Winthrop on Wednesday night in baseball.

Merrifield leads South Carolina (35-9) with 10 home runs this season, while Bradley has five in his last five games for seven on the season. The Gamecocks begin a three-game SEC series Friday against Kentucky.

Bobby Haney went 4 for 4 with a homer for USC, while Christian Walker and Jeffery Jones also homered.

USC reliever Jose Mata (5-0) earned the win after 3 2/3 innings.

Winthrop (21-22) starter Ken Monteith lasted only 1 1/3 innings.

South Carolina led 5-3 before breaking the game open in the fourth inning, batting around and scoring five times to take a 10-3 lead.
