Unbeaten USC women still No. 1

COLUMBIA — South Carolina’s women’s basketball remained No. 1 in the AP Top 25 on Monday for a ninth consecutive week.

The Gamecocks received 27 first-place votes, while No. 2 Connecticut received eight. Baylor, Louisville and Tennessee completed the top five.

South Carolina last week defeated then-No. 10 Kentucky 68-60, and then won at Missouri 60-49.

The Gamecocks beat Florida, 77-42, on Monday to move to 18-0. South Carolina is then off for a week before hosting No. 10 Texas A&M at Colonial Life Arena on Jan. 26.

Beyond the Aggies, USC still has five ranked teams remaining on its schedule, including a showdown at No. 2 Connecticut on Feb. 9. The Gamecocks also play at No. 22 Georgia on Feb, 2, at home against No. 5 Tennessee on Feb. 23, at home against No. 18 Mississippi State on Feb. 26 and at No. 14 Kentucky on March 1.
