UNC Wilmington 5, Charleston Southern 4

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Charleston Southern held the lead throughout the majority of the contest, but UNC Wilmington (20-13) pulled ahead in the eighth inning and held on for a 5-4 victory at Brooks Field.

The Bucs (15-21) opened the game with three straight singles from Brandon McKinney, Tyler Thornburg and Tom Burkett. McKinney scored on Burkett's hit and Thornburg scored on a fielder's choice from Nick Chinners.

No. 11 Coastal Carolina 7, The Citadel 3

CONWAY -- Coastal Carolina scored five runs in the first three innings to jump on the Bulldogs for a 7-3 victory at Watson Stadium.

Coastal Carolina (26-7) used two freshman pitchers who combined to give up three hits while striking out 10.

It is the first time this season the Bulldogs (23-12) have lost three consecutive games.

USC Upstate 11, College of Charleston 10

SPARTANBURG -- USC Upstate (10-27) jumped to an early 5-1 lead, then rallied to score three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning as Andre Harris singled home the winning run with a two-out, bases-loaded liner to right, shocking the College of Charleston in a non-conference game at Harley Park.

Third baseman Matt Leeds led the Cougars (24-11) with three hits and five RBIs.
