COLUMBIA — Richland County officials said eight students suffered minor injuries when a school bus and another vehicle collided in south Columbia.

Richland District 1 and Emergency Medical Services officials said Wednesday that the students were taken to a hospital for treatment.

School district spokeswoman Edith Caudle told The State newspaper most of the students complained of shoulder and knee pain.

Caudle said the bus was carrying about 30 Hand Middle School students when the collision happened about 8 a.m.

Caudle said the students who were not hurt were taken to school in another bus.

There was no immediate word on whether anyone in the other vehicle was hurt.
