Timberland’s playoff run ends at Dillon

Timberland’s season ended with a 49-21 loss at Dillon in the second round of the Class AA Division I Lower State playoffs on Friday night. The Wolves fell behind, 21-0, early and never recovered.

“Sometimes you just get beat by a better team and they are a really good football team,” Timberland coach Art Craig said. “We could play them 10 times and they would probably win nine and a half times. Best offensive team I have seen in my 18 years as a head coach. They have great size and great skill people. They could beat a lot of AAAA teams.”

Timberland managed just one offensive touchdown — a short run by Brandon Simmons. The Wolves scored twice defensively — an interception return by Drake Campbell and a fumble return by Josh Alston.

Timberland’s season ends at 9-3.

“We had a great group of kids and they played hard tonight. We were just outmanned in every area,” Craig said.
