St. Stephen -- The Timberland vs. Hanahan football game was stopped in the second half Friday night after someone called 911 and threatened to blow up the stadium at Timberland High School, authorities said.

The stands were evacuated so that deputies could sweep the area for explosive devices, said Dan Moon, public information officer for the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office.

Timberland was leading 21-7 when play was halted with 8:48 left in the third quarter.

The game will resume at 3 p.m. today at Timberland. No admission will be charged.
