The Citadel's Malik Diggs was named the Southern Conference's most outstanding male track athlete after his performance at the SoCon outdoor track and field championships.
Diggs, a former defensive back on the Bulldogs' football team, won three events last weekend to end his career as a five-time SoCon champion.
The senior from Laurinburg, N.C., won the 110-meter hurdles and the 400 hurdles, both for the second straight year. He broke the meet and school records in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.09 seconds, and in the 400 he won in 52.76 seconds.
Diggs also ran on the Bulldogs' winning 4x100 relay team, and on the 4x400 team that finished second. He won the 60 hurdles at the 2018 SoCon indoor championships in a school record 7.94 seconds.
