COLUMBIA — South Carolina’s women’s basketball team is No. 1 in America for a 10th consecutive week.

The undefeated Gamecocks again claimed the top spot in the latest AP Top 25 poll released Monday. South Carolina (18-0, 6-0 SEC) received 27 first-place votes, while No. 2 Connecticut received eight.

Baylor, Notre Dame and Maryland rounded out the top five. Texas A&M (16-4, 4-2), which plays South Carolina at 7 tonight at Colonial Life Arena, fell two spots into a tie for 12th after losing at No. 21 Georgia last week. Tonight’s game will be broadcast by ESPN2.

The Gamecocks are one of two unbeaten teams in women’s basketball, along with No. 19 Princeton. South Carolina has six games against ranked teams remaining on its regular-season schedule, including tonight against the Aggies, and a trip to No. 2 Connecticut on Feb. 9.
