The Lady Green Wave rolled through the second round of the Class AAAA basketball playoffs and are on a collision course with Goose Creek.

Summerville earned a 58-46 win over White Knoll Friday to advance to the third round.

“Senior Dalexis Aldridge played the game of her life and really sparked us in the first half,” Summerville coach Matt Legare said. “We had some big minutes from our bench and Ashley Green just continues to do all the things she has done for us all year. I’ve received a lot of help this week both from my assistants and coaches from the boys’ program, so the entire SHS family shares this win.”

On Monday, seventh-ranked Summerville travels to eighth-ranked Goose Creek with a berth to the Lower State title game on the line. The game is a rematch of last year’s third-round game that Summerville won 55-52.

It took Summerville (21-5) a few minutes to settle in against White Knoll (13-12), but once it did the Lady Green Wave set the tone. The Lady Timberwolves were only down by two points entering the second quarter. Then Summerville went on an 18-2 run to carry a 32-14 advantage into the half.

White Knoll dwindled the lead down to 12 in the third and to 7 off a 3-point shot by Brittany Weeks with 3:15 remaining. But as the crowd got louder, Summerville’s play got stronger and the Lady Wave pulled away again.

The Lady Timberwolves, who notched the first playoff victory in the history of the White Knoll girls’ program earlier this week, were eliminated with the loss.

“We take pride in never quitting and our girls didn’t quit tonight,” White Knoll coach Keturah Jackson said. “This is their first experience with a playoff game on the road and I’m proud of how they handled the atmosphere. Summerville is a very athletic team that is good on both sides of the ball, so I’m proud of them for continuing to fight. I’m pleased with our effort tonight.”

Green led Summerville in scoring with 15 points while Cierra Mazyck added 14 points for Summerville.

White Knoll senior Charnae Wilson finished with a game-high 20 points.
