Tri-County Black Nurses Health Fair: Feb. 18 at Arthur W. Christopher Community Center. The following screening will be provided: blood pressure, eyes, hearing, dental, bone density, skeletal, variety of blood screening, mammography, body mass index and others. All ages. Free.
Black History Celebration and Fashion Show: 4-7 p.m. Feb. 25. A day of events related to African Americans, history, fashion design, singing, dancing and poetry. Ages 12+. Free.
Black History Through the Eyes of Our Youth: 6-8 p.m. Feb. 29. Join the city of Charleston, Charleston Weed & Seed and Coca-Cola Community Connection in a celebration of black history. Burke High School. All ages. Free.
Raising the Barre Fitness Class: This workout combines the best of Pilates, yoga and ballet to tone, strengthen and shape up your body. Hazel Parker Playground. Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:15 and 5:30 p.m. Cost: $10 for drop in class; $40 for five classes ($8/class); $65 for 10 classes ($6.50/class). Gardening Class: Brownswood Nursery will be teaching this-one hour gardening class the first Wednesday of every month from 10-11 a.m. It will be fun, fast-paced and focused on inspiring and empowering you to become a better gardener. $10 per class. Call 795-5678.
