Elmira, N.Y. — The South Carolina Stingrays hoped a season-long seven-game road trip to begin the new calender year would help break their recent losing streak.

But with less than three minutes to play on Friday night, Elmira’s Louie Caporusso scored to give the Jackals a 3-2 ECHL victory.

Defenseman Johann Kroll and forward Pierre-Luc O’Brien scored for the Stingrays (15-16-1-1), who have now lost four straight and eight of their last nine games.

The Stingrays next play at the Wheeling Nailers today at 7:35 p.m.

They return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Jan.20 against Greenville.
