Stags come up short

HARTSVILLE -- The Berkeley Stags forced a second and deciding game in the Class AAA Lower State finals Monday night, but came up short in the end.

Hartsville won by 2-0 in the second game to advance to the AAA baseball state finals for the first time since 2007.

Berkeley won the first game, 4-3, and ends its season with a 25-5 record.

In the first game, the Stags scored four runs over the final three innings to rally for the victory. Zach Gonzales drove in two runs and Kyle Morrison and Josh Simmons one each for Berkeley.

Gonzales and Joe Glauser combined to pitch the first game for Berkeley.
