Toby Simpson won't return as men's tennis coach at The Citadel after a season in which his team went winless in the Southern Conference and won three matches overall.
Athletic director Larry Leckonby announced the change Wednesday.
The Bulldogs were 3-21 overall last season and 0-10 in the SoCon. Simpson's teams had an overall record of 77-132 and a conference mark of 26-60.
He spent 10 years at The Citadel, the last nine as head coach.
Leckonby said a search for a successor would begin immediately.
Simpson said he plans to seek a job as a teaching pro. His wife, Kelly, is an associate athletic director and senior women's administrator at the military college.
Clemson added Kent State to its 2013 football schedule, completing its non-conference schedules through 2014.
Kent State will play at Death Valley on Sept. 14, 2013, for the first meeting between the two schools.
The Tigers' other non-conference opponents that season are The Citadel, South Carolina and Georgia.
