The 40th annual Sertoma Football Classic will be held Thursday and Friday at The Citadel's Johnson Hagood Stadium. This year's event will celebrate four decades of Sertoma football in the Lowcountry with a look back at some of the prominent players over the years who have gone on to the collegiate and professional football ranks, as well as those who have gone on to distinguish themselves in civic service and business.

Action will begin at 7 p.m. each night. Tickets are are $12 and may be purchased in advance from high school cheerleaders, at Bi-Lo stories and First Federal banks, or at charlestonsertoma.org. Tickets will also be available at the gate.

The Sertoma Club of Charleston has raised more than $3.5 million for local children's charities.

Charleston Battery forwards Lamar Neagle and Tom Heinemann earned USL-2 honors following the conclusion of the regular season.

Neagle fired his way to the top of two categories, taking home the scoring champion and goal-scoring champion titles.

Neagle nudged out Richmond striker Matthew Delicate in both categories, recording 12 goals and 25 points in 19 games.

The title of USL-2 sssist champion is shared, with both Heinemann and Richmond's Mike Burke leading the pack with five. Heinemann also finishing third in goals (7) and points (19).

CSU athletics

The Charleston Southern athletics department has launched a new online ticketing site.

CSUsportstickets.com is now active, and fans can use the site to order single-game football tickets. Fans can select the game and even the seat that they want and pay securely online.

The service will be expanded to include men's basketball, women's basketball and baseball tickets as they become available.
