The SCISA state basketball playoffs begin on Friday with 18 area schools involved in postseason play.

Pinewood Prep and Porter-Gaud will serve as first-round sites on Friday and Saturday. Second-round games, semifinals and finals will take place next week at the Sumter Civic Center.

All championship games will be played on Feb. 28.

The Northwood Academy boys and girls teams earned No. 1 seeds in their respective AAA brackets and received first-round byes. First Baptist’s girls and Pinewood Prep’s boys also received first-round byes.

The First Baptist girls are the top seed in their bracket, opposite Northwood, setting up a possible state championship showdown between the two area rivals, which split games during the regular season.

In AA, the Palmetto Christian Academy girls drew a No. 1 seed and will play The King’s Academy on Friday at Pinewood Prep.

Charleston Collegiate earned a top seed in the Class A boys bracket. The Sun Devils are the defending state champions.
