RiverDogs 8, Tourists 1

Shane Greene threw six superb innings and the Charleston offense banged out 12 hits as the RiverDogs dispatched of the Asheville Tourists, 8-1, in South Atlantic League baseball Sunday night in front of a crowd of 4,142 fans at Riley Park.

The Tourists (38-31, 69-69 overall) were eliminated from playoff contention with the loss.

Greene (5-14) retired the side in order in the first, but allowed the Tourists to take a 1-0 lead in the second.

The RiverDogs (28-41, 54-85) got on the scoreboard in the second inning when Jose Mojica ripped a groundball double past third base and scurried home on a Jose Toussen fielder's choice bunt.Ramon Flores pushed the RiverDogs ahead, 2-1, two batters later by finding the hole on the right side of the infield with a single.

The RiverDogs piled on with two more runs in the third to force Josh Mueller (6-7) from the game.

The teams meet in the season finale today at 6 p.m. It's Fan Appreciation Night, and a fireworks show is scheduled for after the game.
