I-26 lanes open after tanker accident

Workers set-up a decontamination area near an overturned tanker truck containing acid at Interstate 26 exit 172-B Wednesday.

Speedy wide receiver Germone Hopper (6-1, 175) of Charlotte committed to the Clemson football program on Friday while attending spring practice.

He also had offers from North Carolina, N.C. State, East Carolina, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Kentucky and Maryland. But Clemson had long been out front for him.

"It was the first school that really gave me an offer. The academic people here help you out and they really stress academics here," he said.

Hopper will play slot receiver at Clemson. As a running back in 2010, he ran for 1,567 yards and 16 TDs, and accounted for 2,200 total yards. He is Clemson's third commitment for the 2012 class. Hopper's teammate, LB Nick Dawson, also visited Clemson Friday and appears close to making a commitment to the Tigers.
