Porter-Gaud, Cathedral win state volleyball championships

Two teams from the Lowcountry were crowned SCISA state volleyball champions tonight.

Porter-Gaud won its third straight Class AAA state title with a 25-15, 25-20, 25-17 victory over Ashley Hall in front of about 750 fans at the College of Charleston’s TD Arena.

Cathedral Academy won the Class A title with a victory over Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach. The match was held in Sumter and Cathedral posted a 25-16, 14-25, 25-23, 25-18 victory.

The final championship match pits Spartanburg Christian vs. Holly Hill Academy in a 7 p.m. match Tuesday in Columbia.
