COLUMBUS, OHIO — The College of Charleston men's soccer team fell to Penn State, 1-0, in the Bert and Iris Wolstein Classic on Sunday.

Corey Hertzog scored for the Nittany Lions (2-0-0) with just 2:34 remaining in regulation to come away with the victory.

The Cougars (0-2-0) weathered Penn State's 21 shot attempts before ultimately allowing the goal on the Lions' next shot. Penn State put 10 shots on target. Charleston attempted five shots, three on goal. Cougars goalkeeper Kees Heemskerk played all 90 minutes, registering eight saves.

Women's soccer

Charleston Southern (3-2-0) was handed a 3-2 road loss by Georgia Southern (2-2-0) in Statesboro, Ga.

The Bucs led 1-0 on Marky Boyce's goal in the fourth minute before GSU scored three unanswered goals before halftime. CSU's Caitlin Wesnesky scored the only second-half goal.

--Northern Colorado (4-2-0) slipped past The Citadel (1-2-1) for a 2-1 victory, crowning the Bears winners of the Air Force Fall Classic in Colorado.

The Citadel's Vanessa Aponte made it 1-0 in the 53rd minute. The Bears’ winning goal came in the 88th minute.
