CLEMSON -- The results of Kyle Parker's MRI were revealed to be negative Tuesday, a sigh of relief for Clemson's baseball and football teams.

Parker missed Saturday's football scrimmage and Monday's practice, and was held out of baseball games Saturday and Sunday.

Parker returned to Jack Leggett's lineup Tuesday night for the Tigers' game at Georgia.

College football

Former Ohio State football player Maurice Clarett is in jail and awaiting a judge's decision today that would release him to a community-based correction facility after spending 3 1/2 years in prison.

Clarett was convicted on charges of aggravated robbery and carrying a concealed weapon. The former tailback is expected to be transferred to a secure facility in Columbus, Ohio, where he would be evaluated for possible release within six months.

Tennis

Top-seeded Victoria Azarenka of Russia beat Yvonne Meusburger of Austria 6-3, 6-0 to reach the second round of the Andalucia Open in Marbella, Spain. Sixth-seeded Maria Kirilenko lost to Sorana Cirstea of Romania 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4. Kirilenko was the only seeded player to lose.

Track and Field

Caster Semenya says she will return to competitive running on June 24 at a meet in Zaragoza, Spain. The 800-meter world champion said in a statement that she had agreed to the request by Athletics South Africa to wait for the results of her gender verification tests, which are expected in June.
