The Yankees were off Thursday night, giving manager Joe Girardi a chance to ponder his outfield rotation, including former College of Charleston star Brett Gardner.

With Curtis Granderson back from the disabled list, the Yankees have four outfielders for three spots, including Vernon Wells and Ichiro Suzuki.

In the Yankees’ 6-3 loss to Baltimore on Wednesday, Granderson started in centerfield and led off the batting order, while Gardner made a pinch-hit appearance.

The Yankees are at Tampa Bay tonight.

“I haven’t exactly figured out what it is going to be every day,” Girardi told reporters. “It could change so quickly. They understand. This is not their first rodeo. They understand there are four guys who are used to playing a lot. But I’ll try to sit down and get a little bit better handle on how things are going. That is always subject to change.”

Gardner, 29, is batting .254 with three homers, 16 runs batted-in and nine stolen bases this season.
