James Island’s Chris McGuiness did not cash in on a chance to make a Major League roster in spring training. But his hot bat may earn the former Citadel standout another chance.

McGuiness is batting .378 over his last 10 games for Class AAA Round Rock, and was 2 for 4 with his 12th double of the season Tuesday night.

Overall, McGuiness is batting .285 with five home runs and 23 runs batted-in.

McGuiness, a 13th-round pick by the Red Sox in 2009, was in camp with Cleveland this spring as a Rule 5 draft pick. The Indians sent him back to the Rangers at the end of spring training.
