Ex-College of Charleston star Marty Gantt snapped a recent dry spell with a base hit for Class A Bowling Green on Wednesday night.

Marty Gantt (Mount Pleasant) was 1 for 5 and scored a run, ending a five-game hitless streak dating back to June 2. Gantt is batting .278 with six homers and 31 runs batted-in in 56 games.

• Pitcher Mike Cisco (Wando HS, USC) pitched 1/3 of an inning in relief of ex-Gamecock Michael Roth, giving up a hit and a walk in Class AA Arkansas’ 3-2 loss to Tulsa. Cisco is 2-2 with a 2.67 ERA.

•In the majors Wednesday:

• Matt Wieters (Stratford HS) was 0 for 1 as a pinch-hitter in the Orioles’ 9-5 loss to the Angels, and is batting .240.

• Chris McGuiness (James Island HS, The Citadel) was 1 for 4 with three strikeouts in the Rangers’ 5-2 loss to the Indians, and is batting .186.

• Brett Gardner was 0 for 3 with a walk and scored a run in the Yankees’ 5-2 loss to Oakland. and is batting .283.
