The South Carolina Duck Calling Contest will be held March 8 on Main Street in Georgetown with the state champion earning a spot in the World Duck Calling Contest in Stuttgart, Ark. The event begins at noon with the Junior Open for callers 16 and younger as of Thanksgiving 2015. The S.C. State Contest, open to South Carolina residents 17 or older as of Thanksgiving 2015, will follow with the winner required to compete in the World Duck Calling Contest. The Saltwater Sportsman Seminar Series will visit the Palace Theatre in Myrtle Beach on March 7. The Seminar Series is led by George Poveromo, host of George Poveromo’s World of Saltwater Fishing, and Charleston fisheries biologist Don Hammond. Among the scheduled speakers are Summerville’s Paul Godbout and Capt. Fred Rourk of Georgetown.
