Ashley River Cleanup

The Summerville Saltwater Anglers' annual cleanup of the upper Ashley River will be held March 3 at Jessen Landing, located at the corner of Dorchester and Ladson roads. Land-based and boat-based volunteers are needed. Ladies Fly Class

Duck Calling Contest

The South Carolina State Duck Calling Contest will be held March 4 on Front Street in Georgetown. The S.C. Junior duck calling contest will start at noon and is open to any caller 16 or younger the day as of Nov. 23, 2018. The S.C. Champion of Champions will follow and is open to any caller who has won the S.C. State contest. The S.C. State Duck Calling Contest will follow the Champion of Champions event and is open to any caller 17 or older as of Nov. 23, 2018. Swamp Fox NWTF banquet

The Swamp Fox chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will hold its 34th annual fund-raising banquet and outdoors exhibit event March 3 at the Exhibitors Building at Exchange Park in Ladson. Inshore Fishing Classes

Haddrell's Point Tackle in Mount Pleasant will hold Inshore Fishing Classes from 8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m. on March 5, with classes both on and off water instruction (weather permitting). Each class is limited to 15 anglers and there is a $100 fee. Call 843-881-3644.

Boating for Teens

Charleston Sail and Power Squadron will offer a free boating class for youth ages 12-18 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. March 10 at Roper Berkeley Auditorium, located at 730 Stony Landing Rd., Moncks Corner. South Carolina boating law requires youth under 16 to carry a South Carolina Boater Certification Card to operate a boat 15 horsepower or greater, including jet skis.

Charleston Outdoor Fest 

The 28th Charleston Outdoor Fest will be held April 21-22 at James Island County Park. The event features on of the country's premier showcases of canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) along with numerous other outdoor recreation activities including mountain biking, slack lining, archery, climbing and disc golf. Sheepshead Tournament

The 26th annual Charleston Inshore Anglers Sheepshead Tournament will be fished April 28. The captain's meeting and registration will be held April 26 at Smoky Oak Taproom, 1234 Camp Rd., Charleston and the weigh-in will be from 4-5 p.m. April 28 at Smoky Oak. The entry fee is $35.
